Saturday 26 January saw nine teams invited to the Suffolk Shield Team Racing event which was hosted by the Royal Hospital School and sailed at Alton Water SC.
A mixture of senior, youth and school teams raced through the round robin stage with the top four progressing to semi-finals and finals. Conditions throughout the day were great for team racing with enough wind holding for the finals to make for close, tactical three-boat team racing.
The Sevenoaks team improved throughout the day qualifying for the final stages. In the semi-final they were up against RGS Guildford, with Sevenoaks winning the best of three match convincingly 2-0.
The final was a rematch of the RYA Youth and Junior National Finals from earlier in the academic year against Rugby School; the same format as the semis, with the first team to win two races to take the title. A dominant performance from the Sevenoaks sailors saw them win the final 2-0. Congratulations!
