The British Schools Dinghy Racing Association (BSDRA) National Schools Finals took place this year at Bough Beech sailing club on the 4th and 5th of July. The Sevenoaks team went into the event as defending champions and on the back of four good days training in the last week were feeling confident of retaining their title.
Day one saw all the team race against each other in a league, with Sevenoaks ending the day as joint leaders alongside Winchester College on 11 wins and 1 loss.
Day two saw the teams seeded into gold and silver leagues, where they all raced against each other twice, with the top two advancing to the final. Sevenoaks emerged from some very close races to top the league and in a repeat of last years final they went on to face Magdalen College School in a best of 5 series.
Sevenoaks really stepped up their performance when it mattered and put in a dominant display to emerge 3-0 victors and retain their national title.
A great achievement for the team, led by Alice Kidd who along with George Haynes and Remi Pfister are now double school national champions, a fantastic achievement!
Huge congratulations to the team who have worked really hard to get to where they are and fully deserved their victory!
