Friends of Sevenoaks Review 2019-2020

Friends of Sevenoaks had a very active Michaelmas term, allowing new and current parents to socialise as part of the Sevenoaks School community.

All the FoS Saturday coffee mornings for each year group have seen record attendance, while the ever-successful uniform shop and lost property run by committed volunteers continues to provide a valuable service, appreciated by many parents and students.

With almost 200 guests, the Thai-themed New Parents’ Supper was the perfect evening to introduce new parents to the school. The exquisite food and wine helped create a friendly atmosphere, establishing long-lasting bonds between parents.

The Quiz Night did not disappoint: another sell-out evening, always highly competitive but a jovial and fun event, nonetheless, which saw a parent team win this year. Our fantastic social coordinators organised successful Christmas parties during which parents managed to unwind before the festive period started.

For walk lovers, the Sevenoaks Striders have organised get-togethers in the leafy surrounding areas of Sevenoaks. Unfortunately, the FoS Summer Ball was not able to take place. An alternative date in 2021 has been found; an event that the whole Sevenoaks Community will certainly look forward to.

FoS has become an integral part of Sevenoaks School and this friendly institution could not exist without the help, dedication, time and generous commitment of its co-chairs, Emma Kutchera and Clare Scott, its treasurer, Sue Newman, and all its hardworking year group social coordinators and volunteers.

The funds raised by FoS in 2019-20 entirely covered the much-needed purchase of a new projector in the Pamoja Hall, highlighting the positive impact of the Friends of Sevenoaks on the school’s pupils and its entire community.
