The donation of £15,900 that was raised from Middle School Charity Week last year has enabled the Codepa Community to have access to water through the provision of a rain-fed dam and a well. The community will now no longer have to walk miles to collect water. This will enable them to spend time terracing the land surrounding the dam in order to grow crops and spend time with their families. The water from the dam will irrigate the land around it for 8 to 9 months of the year. A well, tapping into the water table, will provide water for drinking and for household use all year round. Children will now be able to go to school rather than spending all day collecting water. The dam and well will, in time, benefit over 1,500 people.
