The school was immensely privileged to welcome Professor Steven Isenberg for three days in November as a visiting fellow. Professor Isenberg is both an academic and a newspaper man, and as such he is uniquely placed to offer insights into the American Presidential election.
In his talk to the Sixth Form he reflected on the rise of Donald Trump and the desire of the Americans for a change in the political establishment. During his time here, Professor Isenberg also addressed Year 9 on the war writings of Siegfried Sassoon and held a number of sessions on the poetry of Philip Larkin, about whom he is expert. His discussions with the History and English extension groups and the Politics Society were enthusiastically attended by members of the Sixth Form. Such was the success of his visit we hope to welcome him again.
