Sevenoaks School have won the 2016 Pro Corda Schools’ Trophy: a very impressive achievement.

Pro Corda’s national Chamber Music Festival is an annual celebration of chamber music making in schools. Qualifying rounds take place at schools around the country, after which selected ensembles go through to a semi-final from which finalists are chosen.

This year’s final took place at Sevenoaks in The Space on 13 March, and included four groups from Sevenoaks.

The Pro Corda Schools’ Trophy is an award made to the strongest performing school overall, taking into account every stage of the competition. The judges commented that as well as having four representatives in the finals, the most of any single school, the performances by Sevenoaks at earlier stages were also very strong ones.

The Sevenoaks finalists were:

U19 Piano Trio: Sophie Westbrooke (violin), Elizabeth Shaw (cello), Lou Warnett (piano) U19 String Quartet: Cosima Weiss, Reena Chow (violin), Sehee Lim (viola), Elizabeth Shaw (cello) U19 Piano Quintet: Jessica Wen, Anna Marisina (violin), Sehee Lim (viola), Amelia Irwin (cello), Rachelle Lam (piano) U14 Trio: Aria Baker, Anna Power (flute), Madeleine Brown (piano)

Well done to everyone involved for all the hard work you have all put into your chamber music this year, and congratulations!
