OS Careers Forum

We were delighted to welcome back four Old Sennockians to speak to our current students on Tuesday 14 June.

Helen Zaltzman (OS 1997), Olivia Cole (OS 1999), Stina Richardson (OS 1996), and Anna Wilson (OS 1988) gave our current students an excellent insight into careers in the arts, including podcasting, comedy, writing, journalism and jewellery design.

The Q&A format for the event began with each of them introducing themselves and the work they did, and they then responded to students’ questions. They outlined the challenges of working in a creative industry as well as the benefits to be had. They stressed the importance of flexibility, resilience, hard work, and a willingness to try new things. Our OS spoke warmly and generously about their teachers at Sevenoaks and how the school environment had inspired them to contribute to the arts.

We are extremely grateful to our four alumni for sharing their excellent insights and the feedback from students was extremely positive. The 40 students who attended benefited directly from the event chaired by Alex Smith and co-organised by the HE Department and the Development Office.

Each year we arrange three OS Careers Forums which offer students an insight into the professional work and life experience of our alumni. We’d be very pleased to hear form alumni who would like to take part in future events.
