Sporting Highlights

Cross country

The senior boys took part in the King’s Trophy on Wimbledon Common. The team finished second, earning their best result in recent years. Edoardo Leone led the team home, finishing fifth from a field of over 150 runners.

The senior boys and girls teams ran in the Simon Houghton Trophy. Sevenoaks were hosting the event, with the course being run in Knole Park and our athletes put in another fine display. The Senior Boys won the team event with Judd finishing second and Harrow third. Fenton Davoren won the individual title and Sevenoaks runners placed second and third to score 31 points.

Another event hosted by Sevenoaks was the ESAA County Cup. A total of 47 teams entered the junior boys, junior girls, inter boys and inter girls races. The Sevenoaks teams won three of the four events and finished second in the other, with all four teams qualifying for the regional rounds. This was a hugely successful event and well done to everyone involved.

Hockey

The hockey teams, for the second consecutive year, have completed a clean sweep of county championships, winning the U12s, U13s, U14s, U16s and U18s.

A fantastic display from the U12s who, in their first tournament, won the county title and progress through to the regional rounds. They played some fine hockey and beat a strong Weald team in the final.

Well done to the U13A team who won the tournament held at Canterbury beating Kent College Pembury in the final and progressing through the regional rounds.

Congratulations to the U14A side who won all their matches to claim the county title. They thoroughly deserved to progress but were pushed all the way in the final by a strong side from the Weald of Kent School. They now look forward to battling it out in the regional rounds and are aiming to match last year’s performance when the team got through to the national finals.

Having won the county tournament, the U16s remained unbeaten in the regional rounds to progress through to the regional finals in November. They didn’t concede a goal throughout the day and beat New Hall, Langley, Bedford Modern and Presdales. They are aiming to defend their national title.

The U18As were also county champions and the Sevenoaks 2nd XI team battled through the regional round playing against other schools 1st XI’s. They won their final game against the Royal Masonic School on penalty flicks.

 Netball

Good luck to the senior Netball squad who embark on a tour of Barbados over the half term. They have been working hard training before and after school in the lead up to the tour and we wish them all the best.

Sailing

The first school team racing competition of the new school year took place at Farmoor Reservoir on the 5 October with 21 teams from 17 different schools competing. Sevenoaks entered two teams, both of which were competing for the first time. Sevenoaks B ended up in 13th place after the league stage, with the A team topping the standings with a 100% record and advancing to the semi-finals. They went on to face RGS Guildford in the final where in a repeat of the semi they lost the first race but fought back strongly to take the next two and the overall title 2-1. A great start to the new year for our new teams!
