Year 9 pupils represent Youth Council at local time capsule event

Phoebe Critchlow and Katie Willis (Year 9), attended the interment of a time capsule at Sevenoaks Bat and Ball station on Thursday 6 September, in their roles as two of the town's Youth Councillors.

The Grade 2 listed station building, built in 1862 for Queen Victoria’s visits to Knole, is being restored by Sevenoaks Town Council. The time capsule was buried under the floor of the original booking office, and contained a variety of local items including a map of Sevenoaks, a copy of the local paper and a train ticket.

As well as Sevenoaks Youth Council, the ceremony was attended by the Mayor, Sevenoaks Town Councillors and members of Friends of Bat & Ball Station group.

The time capsule will be opened in 2062 to commemorate the station’s 200-year anniversary, and of the attendees present in 2018, Phoebe and Katie are the most likely to see that event.
