Try Angle Awards 2020

Many congratulations to Anna Tarasheva (Year 11), who is Kent County Council's Try Angle Awards 2020 Sevenoaks Winner in the category of Community Action.

Anna received the award for her initiative Sevenoaks Sounds which was created during the first lockdown. This series of online concerts, performed by Sevenoaks students, were devised and distributed to the elderly in local care homes to help improve mental health and brighten people's days.

The Try Angle Awards recognise the exceptional achievements and good work of young people in Kent. Whether at school, work, college, in business or in their wider community across Kent, the awards recognise who are trying their best and making a difference. The community action category recognises the contribution made to the community or in such initiatives as school councils, youth forums, charities or environmental projects.

Well done to Jemima Korvin (Year 12), 2020 Sevenoaks Winner in the category of Sport or Outdoor Activity.

Jemima showed a tremendous commitment to sport throughout lockdown periods, working tirelessly to improve across a number of sports, all completed via video link and sent in to acquire feedback. She particularly excelled in lacrosse.

During lockdown she coached tennis and completed a comprehensive strength and conditioning programme, which she recorded and reflected on throughout the Summer term.

Jemima was also awarded an honorary Sport scholarship by the school, for her commitment, hard work, determination and all-round leadership as a sporting individual. Congratulations on a very well-deserved award!

Well done also to Theodore Jones (Year 7), 2020 Sevenoaks Winner for exceptional achievement in music. His accomplishments included writing a 'hymn to life' song during lockdown called The Great Joy Mother Summer Brings, which was an encouragement to others during the pandemic, and passing piano Grade 6 with a high distinction. Congratulations to Theodore, who was among the youngest winners.
