Sporting Highlights

Badminton

Sevenoaks hosted a triangular tournament with two other schools – St Lawrence and Eastbourne – in a mixture of singles and doubles. The level of competition was high and there were some great team and individual performances. Sevenoaks won by 30 points overall.

Cricket

Our U13 cricket side are county champions of the indoor Lady Taverners tournament and now progress to the regional finals.

Fencing

John-Paul Shaw placed first in the U16 Sabre of the South East region championships, qualifying for the British Youth Championships in May. Amelie Tsang won U14 Foil at the South East championships and has also qualified for the nationals. Woser Prossor has also qualified for the nationals in U16 Foil.

Later this month Amelie Tsang and Woser Prossor will fence for the England team at the international competition in Poland.

Congratulations to all.

Netball

Our U18 and U16 sides finished as runners-up at the Birley’s tournament at King’s Canterbury.

Rugby Sevens

Our U16s had a great day at the Worth Sevens. They beat Oratory, St Paul’s and Brighton before losing in the cup semi-final to Lord Wandsworth College.

Swimming

We took two teams to the prestigious Bath and Otter Cup relays on Friday at the Olympic pool. Our senior girls (three Year 9s and one Year 7) narrowly missed out on the final after finishing 11th out of 39 large schools in the 4 x 50m medley. Our senior boys came 12th out of 46 large schools in the 4 x 100m freestyle. Both teams also did well in the 4 x 50m freestyle (girls 18th) and 4 x 50m medley (boys 16th).

Squash

The first team did brilliantly to win two of three games in the regional plate competition, just losing to Reigate Grammar. There is still a possibility that we may qualify for the national finals.

Tennis

Our senior boys team finished second at the national finals in Bolton. They won all three group games, qualifying for the final, but eventually lost out to MCS Oxford.
