Sevenoaks School qualify for national U16 netball finals

Sevenoaks School’s U16 side finished second at the schools netball regional finals on Sunday and have qualified for the nationals, while the U14 team finished third.

The day started with a win against Bancroft’s, with a score of 7-4. Our tight defending and great feeds into our attacking D secured this first win. Next followed Latymer Upper School, with another win for Sevenoaks, resulting in a score of 12-7. During this game, our shooters showed great skill and perseverance in scoring goals.

Next we faced our two toughest games of the day back to back. The first was against Guildford High, where we lost by one goal (8-9). It was a tough game as their attack was very strong. Straight after this, we faced our local rivals Tonbridge Grammar, again another tight match finishing in a draw (6-6). We knew now that the next three matches would be the decider between progressing to nationals and going home.

In our next match vs. Wanstead, we succeeded with a final score of 8-5, our win largely influenced by our control and calmness in mid-court. With a positive and determined attitude, we entered our final two games against Coloma Convent Girls School and Lady Eleanor Holles. Both games were intense, on court and off court; however the outcomes were in our favour with respective final scores of 7-4 and 7-6. We were thrilled by this outcome, and are all excited and enthusiastic about competing in the national finals in March.
