Pupil-led Global Literacy Conference

All parents are warmly invited to the morning session of our first pupil-led Global Literacy Conference on Sunday 3 March, principally for Lower Sixth students across several UK schools.

This is a particularly special occasion due to the fact that Francis Yeboah, the Ghanaian co-founder of Reading Spots, will be visiting the UK for the first time.

A panel of speakers will address the topic of literacy development from different angles. Speakers will include Judith Henderson (Senior Project Manager of Book Aid International), James da Costa (creator of the teleStory App), Kate McAlpine (founder of Caucus for Children's Rights in Tanzania), Daniel Dotse (Founder of Teach for Ghana) and Helen Denyer (first Project Manager of African Science Academy). This will take place at 09:00-10:45 in the Pamoja Hall.

From 11:15am onwards, you will have the chance to hear the Reading Spots story from Francis Yeboah directly. He grew up in a remote Ghanaian community and used the small tips gained from driving to support communities with books.

Parents are most welcome to attend on the day (without advance booking) at a cost of £10 which can be paid in cash or placed on the school bill.
