Masked Miler Challenge
Ten weeks have passed since the challenge began back on Monday 11 January and there are no words to describe the enormous contribution made by students, staff and parents at Sevenoaks.
Throughout the recent lockdown, the PE & Sport department held the Masked Miler Challenge, inviting all students, staff, parents and Old Sennockians to get involved.
Competitors were split into teams and assigned a random number within that team, giving them a ‘masked’ profile during the challenge.
All competitors were required to walk, run, cycle or row, reporting their distances covered weekly.
The Easter holidays are upon us and it’s now time to appreciate and recognise the fantastic efforts of everybody involved. Over 3,603 entries have been received from 762 individuals who accumulated a total of 61,186 miles.
To put this achievement into perspective, we thought we should return to Knole Park as we did back in Week 2 when we completed a total of 2,401 round trips. However, fast forward to Week 10 and we would instead have to travel the perimeter of the park a total of 10,197 times.
The success doesn’t stop there. Having joined forces with our Charity Committee and Refugee Action Group towards the end of term, we asked students, staff and parents to show support for Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. At the end of the week, we managed to achieve a total of 5,876 miles and complete the return trip to Syria from Sevenoaks (5,486 miles).
We give our thanks to each and every one of you who contributed, and hope it provided you with the opportunity to stay motivated throughout lockdown.
Individual/squad leaderboards are being updated and particular students will be rewarded for finishing top of the following categories:
- Total Accumulative Distance: Overall Leader (separate year group standings awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place)
- Standout Performers: Running, Cycling and Walking
- Most Consistent: Regular Contributions and Notable Distance
Thank you for playing your part and supporting others in this Sevenoaks lockdown story.< Back
