Congratulations to Tabitha Bolter (L6) who recently won a poetry competition ran by The Friends at The Amelia Scott (formerly The Friends of Tunbridge Wells Museum, Library & Art Gallery).
The Friends at The Amelia Scott launched a Friendship Poetry Competition in September borne out of the challenges of the pandemic. The contest was open to all ages and encouraged people to pen a poem that reflects what friendship means to them. Tabitha entered the Under 18 category with her poem 'Zoom In – sonnet No 42'.
Forming the judging panel were published poet and children’s author Mara Bergman; Emily Bennett, who is a creative writing tutor at Tunbridge Wells Adult Learning Centre; and Eileen Leahy, Deputy Editor of the Times of Tunbridge Wells.
Tabitha earned the top prize in her category and was given an award by The Marquess Of Abergavenny at a ceremony at the new The Amelia Scott centre in Tunbridge Wells. The Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Chris Woodard, and his wife the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Jenny Woodward have also invited Tabitha to The Mayor's Parlour in Tunbridge Wells to recite her poem.
Congratulations to Tabitha on this wonderful achievement.< Back
