We’re delighted that the school’s Science & Technology Centre and Global Study Centre was jointly awarded the Sevenoaks Society’s Frank Marshall Award for Townscape Improvement, along with the refurbishment of Bat and Ball Station.
The award recognises the best improvement or contribution to the townscape of Sevenoaks over the preceding two years. The principle judging criteria are design and construction quality and making a positive impact in the public realm.
The judges also take into account community participation and engagement; integration of the project with its location; innovation and creativity; efficient use of resources; conservation or enhancement of the historic environment; and promoting pride of place.
Sevenoaks School’s Science and Technology Centre and Sixth Form Global Study Centre, designed by Tim Ronalds Architects, were completed in 2018 and serve the school and the wider community, providing a place for experimentation and discovery, a social, study and educational space for the school’s 400 sixth formers, and an extensive multi-purpose space for exams and events of all kinds. Our buildings were considered for the award because we are part of the local community, and because of our outreach work which brings visitors from local schools to use them every week.
