Classical ensembles 

Classical chamber music is at the heart of any serious musician’s training. 

In any one-to-a-part situation, there is no hiding place!  Musicians learn to work cooperatively.  Two vital aspects of musicianship are inevitably enhanced: the student’s awareness of pulse and their degree of intonation.

Sevenoaks School runs about thirty chamber groups, many of which enter for Pro Corda’s national chamber music festival, held annually.  There are three concerts in the Lent term dedicated exclusively to the performance of classical chamber music and other groups perform on occasion throughout the year as well. 

Chamber groups are a great way to develop the skills for playing together, especially listening to the other instruments. Each year, numerous chamber music groups also take part in the prestigious Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition
