The department is approaching its busiest time of the year with numerous concerts and events.

Middle School Platform Concert

After the senior musicians’ platform last month, it was time for the Middle School students to shine. The evening started off with range of piano works from Handel, Erik Satie to the Pirates of the Caribbean, and finished up with several instrumental performances by flute, violin and harp.

Prep School Battle of the Bands

The Pamoja Hall is not just known for hosting concerts among our students. The Music department has always welcomed the opportunity to work with neighbouring primary schools and provide a platform for younger musicians to showcase their talents. This year six primary schools performed covers of our favourite rock tunes and even some self-composed music. Congratulations to the winner Saint Ronan’s School, wowing our judges with their amazing performance of ‘Pompeii’ by Bastille. And a huge thank you to teachers and parents for their incredible support.

Lower School Platform Concert

Like the middle school platform, the lower school platform features performances by groups of Year 7-9 in large ensembles and smaller solo performances. Special thanks go to all those who supported both platform concerts. Photos

Other Concerts

Other smaller-scale concerts that took place within this month include the IB musicians’ Internal Assessment Solo Concert, the lunchtime Concert at St Luke’s Church and the Informal Concert. In other news, staff and students are working hard towards our biggest concert this term ‘A Night at the Movies’ (tickets available here) as well some upcoming Christmas concerts.

News, Achievements and Exams

We have some exciting news from two of our Y12 violinists: Andre Hee has been selected to be one of the violinists at the National Youth Orchestra whilst Marcus Choy has passed his violin performance diploma.

And well done to those who completed their ABRSM grade 5 and 7 theory exams on 6 November.
