The Middle School

Years 9, 10 and 11 make up the Middle School.

Close to half of Year 9 is new to Sevenoaks. Students join from a large number of different schools, including some from overseas. Day pupils coming up from the Lower School mix into new coeducational tutor groups with the new day pupils. This group will move up together through the Middle School, looked after by the same specialist Middle School tutor for all three years.

Boarders are tutored with other members of their boarding house. They have one tutor in Year 9 and then another tutor will take them through Years 10 and 11. Their housemaster or housemistress will also work very closely with each pupil and their parents.

Pupils meet every morning in their tutor groups. Tutors help pupils to settle in and guide them through their studies, co-curricular activities and GCSE choices during Year 9 and then IB choices later on in Year 11. They will liaise closely with parents throughout.

Year 9 have PE and Games on Thursday and Saturday afternoons each week. Years 10 and 11 have Games every Saturday and Monday or Tuesday afternoon respectively plus Service activities every Thursday afternoon.
