WIZARD TIMES!Harry Potter continues to cast his spell as the world-wide Harry Potter Book Night on 2 February proved. Fifty Year 7s and Year 8s took the chance to dress up as Hogwarts pupils, wizards, witches and other characters from the books. After the Sorting Ceremony they took part in a series of activities to test their Potter expertise, such as quizzes and competitions. The evening was run as a joint activity between the Maths and English department, and we were awestruck by the detailed and arcane knowledge of Year 7 and 8. House rivalry was intense – Hufflepuffs were however victorious, winning the House cup, closely followed by Slytherin. The best costume prize was awarded to Phoebe Critchlow who looked as if she had walked straight off the set of the next Potter film. It only goes to show that reading has not lost its magic.
