On Friday 15 November, over 400 intrepid runners from 44 took to Knole Park for the annual Junior Knole Run despite the wet weather.
Both the boys’ and girls’ courses begin at the bottom of the valley in what’s known as ‘The Spur’ before the boys divert off and take a slightly longer route around the park consisting of an additional hill which brings the runners back into the valley and then a 200m home stretch to the finish line.
The girls’ race got the afternoon underway with a fantastic run from Abigail Reid from Forest School, winning the individual category and also helping her team finish first overall in the team category. Lily Slack from Walthamstow Hall and Abi Bushell from St Teresa’s Effingham also ran well to pick up the second and third individual spots. In the team race, Sevenoaks School finished in second place with The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School coming in a very close third with only one point separation.
The girls’ race was followed by a considerably wetter boys’ race which was once again dominated by The Judd School with Albert Kreusberg winning the overall race and the school’s A and B teams securing the top two places on the podium. Dulwich Prep also had some great individual runs from Finlay Goodman and Harry Miles who finished second and third respectively with John Hampden Grammar picking up the third place in the team event.
A huge thanks must go to all staff from Sevenoaks School involved in the extensive organisation of the event and to all schools who competed in the race. Sevenoaks School would also like to thank Lord Sackville and the Knole Estate for their permission to hold this event in Knole Park.
