It was a glorious day in Knole Park for the Junior Knole Run last Friday, where nearly 600 runners competed in the prestigious annual race for schools.
The girls kicked off the event with a super start in perfect running conditions. A fantastic 2.6km course around the park provides a genuine cross country challenge, and 280 girls successfully completed the race. Olivia Breed from Sevenoaks Prep stormed home in first place with a time of 9.57 minutes, Derwent Lodge athlete Lily Slack came second in 10.01 minutes, and Natalie Sewell from The Coopers Coburn School third in 10.04 minutes.
In the team standings, The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School finished first with an impressive 32 points, Sevenoaks School second with 80 points, and St Catherine’s School claimed third place after drawing on 104 points with Alleyn’s. The fourth runner for St Catherine’s finished higher placed than Alleyn’s, which took the lead.
The boys’ race was next, and the runners also put in a superb amount of effort over their 3.4km course, with 302 completing the challenge. Cormac Nisbet from John Hampden Grammar School ran a fine race to finish first in 12.38 minutes. Rory Philpot from Brentwood was second in 12.59 minutes, and Jack Webb from Dulwich Prep was third in 12.59.5 minutes.
Team positions saw the Cooper’s Coborn boys match their girls and take first place with 40 points, Dulwich Prep take second with 67 points and The Judd School third with 73 points. Sevenoaks was in seventh place.
Sevenoaks School would like to thank Lord Sackville and the Knole Estate for their permission to hold this event in Knole Park.
