In the first round of this year’s International Chemistry Olympiad, 27 Sixth Form students achieved coloured certificates.
Students were awarded 16 bronze and seven silver awards. Four of them, Katia Avanesov and Aidan Durant in the Lower Sixth, and Vara Gunananthan and Henry Hollingworth in the Upper Sixth, achieved gold awards, placing them in the top 8.9 per cent nationally.
Special mention should be made for Henry Hollingworth, whose phenomenal score placed him in the top 50 of the 8668 students who participated.
