On Thursday 17 November 2016, Dr Katy Ricks alongside Nicholas Gould, Chairman of Governors and Robert Sackville- West, Chairman of the Trustees for the Sevenoaks School Foundation and students, Elise van den Hoek, Reena Chow and Aston Weekes marked the start of the building works on the new Science and Technology Centre and Sixth Form Centre with a groundbreaking ceremony. They were also joined by the Andrew Burton, Bursar , Michael Joyce, Director of Development for the Sevenoaks School Foundation and Aaron Coffey from Gilbert Ash, building contractors for the site. The new Science and Technology Centre and Sixth Form Centre will bring together all four core fields of science under one roof for the first time. It will have state-of-the-art facilities as well as a multi-purpose space to accommodate exams, lecture, exhibitions and gathering. Alongside it will be a dedicated space for students studying the IB. The space will provide excellent study and research areas and will also contain Higher Education facilities allowing IB students direct access to support their transition from school to university and the working world. Work started on the new building over the summer as the Marley Sports Hall and Aisher Hall were demolished and the site prepared for construction of the new buildings. Piling is currently underway on the site and will continue through November 2016 and following this work will commence on erecting the superstructure and is likely to last until Mid 2017. Works will continue on the buildings internal infrastructure through to December 2017, thereafter the internal fit out will take place. Our aim is for the buildings to be completed in the summer 2018 in readiness for Michaelmas term 2018. Thank you to all those who have donated to The Campaign for Sevenoaks School so far. It is only through your generosity that we have been able to start the building works to create these innovative spaces.
