Geography Calendar 2019
The 2019 Sevenoaks School People and Places Geography Calendar is now available for purchase.
All photographs were taken by members of our School community and then the photographs were selected by students in the Geography Calendar VSU group who worked with a professional designer in the production process.
All profits from the sale of the calendar will go to Education for All, a charity that helps to fund boarding places for impoverished girls in rural Morocco, enabling them to attend secondary school. As part of our IB Geography trip we are able to visit one of these schools and see first-hand how our money has helped. Last year, the 2018 calendar raised £2000 for Education for All and a further £500 went directly to the Imlil Association (our students spent a day helping to build a wall to protect a local primary school from flooding).
The calendars are £15 each (including VAT) for a single purchase or £12.50 each if more than one is purchased. If you would like to place an order, the cost can be added to your son or daughter’s bill. To place your order please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Saturday 8 December 2018, stating your son or daughter’s pupil code, the number of copies you wish to purchase and that you are happy for the sum to go on your bill.
The issue of gender inequalities is taught in the Core theme of the IB geography syllabus and the importance of educating women is something which is brought home to our Lower Sixth IB Geographers on the annual visit to the High Atlas mountains in Morocco each Easter holiday. Among the Berber villages of the High Atlas mountains students meet women their own age who craved the chance to be educated beyond primary school and also spend some time interacting with the girls at the boarding house in Asni who are fortunate enough to directly benefit from the EfA charity.
