DofE Snowdonia trip

A report from the May 2015 Snowdonia DofE trip

During the May half-term break 26 students and nine members of staff travelled to Snowdonia in Wales for a Gold DofE hiking expedition. Two Upper Sixth groups were being assessed while two Lower Sixth were doing their practice.

The arrival was in beautiful sunshine so, having set up camp, groups took a short stroll down to the glorious beach before returning to the first of many meals prepared with their Trangia stoves. Following this pleasant start they were soon off on their own in the stunning Welsh mountains, covering an average of 20km a day.

The routes took them past wonderful lakes, impressive peaks and plenty of sheep! There were lots of challenges to overcome in terms of rain, heat and exhaustion but all four groups were successful over the four-day expedition, leaving only footprints and taking only great memories from the great outdoors.
