Sevenoaks has won the local round of the ESU Schools Mace, the largest schools debating competition in the UK. Lower Sixth students Rachelle Lam and Daniel Wu beat local rivals including Tonbridge, Judd and Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School, which has a particularly strong record in debating, on Tuesday evening. They successfully proposed the motion: This House would only imprison violent offenders, and would give all non-violent offenders non-custodial sentences. They go on to the regional round in the New Year.
