Rugby is the major sport for boys in the Michaelmas term, fielding 11 teams from U14 to the 1st XV. We aim to develop the skills, ambition and attitude for players to perform at their highest standard possible working as an individual, in a unit and as a team. Junior rugby for the U13 teams takes place in the Lent term with a competitive fixture list against local schools.
Sevenoaks inspires teamwork – the key to success!
Sevenoaks has a challenging and traditional fixture list covering a wide range of schools from the South East. Before the season starts players both old and new are brought together for a pre-season training camp where players of all abilities experience top quality coaching from ex-internationals such as Peter Richards, Kieran Dawson, Duncan Bell, Trevor Woodman and Dan Caprice (OS 2008).
As a school we regularly produce players of county standard and have a good history of players representing their country. Recent successes include the U15 Kent Cup title, which we have won twice during the last three years.
Throughout the season all players, coaches and teams aim for a fast, expansive style of play, making the whole experience as enjoyable as possible for both the players and spectators. This ethos over the years has seen players with no previous experience before joining the school develop from U14C through to 1st XV level and beyond.
Our aim is not only for excellence, but also that the students develop a lifelong love for the game, enjoy playing in a team environment and acquire team-working skills which they take with them when they leave school.
