On Monday 12 October, Sevenoaks School sent an A team (consisting of Rayan Melwani, Laurence Lam, Oge Flagg-Igbo and Harry Houillon) and a B team (consisting of Christiane Gontarek, Victor Poracchia, Vir Poddar and Luke Massey) to Wilson’s School for an ECF chess tournament.
Our A Team were placed second out of 22, scoring 13.5 points, with Harry Houillon winning an incredible 4/4 matches, Rayan winning 3.5/4 and Oge and Laurence both winning a respectable 3/4 points. Harry performed fantastically, playing accurately without making any errors, and his results reflect on his ability.
Our B Team placed 16th out of 22, however it was a very good experience for our younger players (Vir, Luke and Victor) who have just joined the chess team and are rapidly improving members, and will be the future of the chess team.
