Two of our Lower Sixth debaters were regional finalists in the Cambridge Union Debating Competition on Sunday. Rachel Tustin and Oliver Tushingham, both new to debating this term, had the honour of speaking in the historic Cambridge Union chamber itself, proposing the motion (given to the teams 15 minutes before the debate) that This House Believes it is justifiable for History textbooks to depict regimes such as the Nazis and Stalin as absolute evil.
On Saturday, ten debaters competed in the London School of Economics schools competition and we were delighted that two teams – Miranda Zhang and Kyra Chong; Kelly Liu and Finlay Ford – made it to the Novice Final, and Oliver Tushingham was second best novice speaker in the competition overall.
