Students from Sevenoaks School have been undertaking art sessions with patients at Hospice in the Weald, as part of their voluntary service activities. Fifteen students participate in the Art VSU project, and a number of them visit the Hospice each week to assist with a range of art sessions including painting, ceramics and printmaking.
Emma Delpech, Art teacher at Sevenoaks School, who runs the art service activity said, ‘We are so lucky to spend this time with the patients at Hospice in the Weald. They enrich our lives and inspire us.’
One of the students commented, ‘It is a great feeling to take something you are passionate about and translate that into helping others, especially when it is direct and you can see the benefit your work is having. Each week we do something different; we’ve made clay vegetables, prints, glazing and much more. I am incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to go to the hospice and to get to know all the fantastic characters there.’
