Year 11 Results 2017

Sevenoaks School is celebrating the outstanding examination results for Year 11.

94% of the examinations taken by the 157 candidates were awarded A* or A grades. 61 students - over a third of the year group - gained ten A*s or more each, and 134 students (over 85%) gained 9 or more A* or A grades. All but twenty results out of 1611 examinations were awarded grade B or above.

All students took three separate IGCSE sciences, Mathematics and English Language. We were particularly delighted by the success in our own externally moderated Sevenoaks School Certificate in English Literature, now in its seventh year, and by the results in their third awarding year of Art, Drama, Music, Technology (Robotics) and Technology (Visual Communications).

The Head, Dr Katy Ricks, said, 'These results are excellent, and a superb achievement for both students and teachers. We are delighted that our students start the IB Diploma Programme with such strong qualifications.'

IB Results 2017 - Record breaking year!

Many congratulations to the Class of 2017 on their outstanding examination results – the best ever results of our largest cohort in recent years. At 216 students, our cohort is among the biggest of UK and world-wide IB schools, and together they achieved the remarkable average diploma score of 40.6 points (ten points above the world average). 

Twenty four students achieved the maximum 45 points, with 34 securing 44 points and another 26 securing 43 points. Over 66% of the cohort achieved 40 points or more – an exceptional result.

The Head, Dr Katy Ricks, said, ‘We are once again delighted by our students’ performance. These exceptional results are a validation of the school’s ethos and approach to learning. A parent said to me only this week: 'Sevenoaks teaches its students how to think.’

IB Results 2016

Many congratulations to the Class of 2016 on their excellent examination results. At 205 students, our cohort is among the biggest of UK and worldwide IB schools, and together they achieved the remarkable average diploma score of 39.8 points (nine points above the world average).  

  • 7 students gained the maximum 45 points for the IB Diploma
  • 21 students gained 44 points
  • 28 students secured 43 points
  • 120 students (nearly 60% of the cohort) gained diplomas with 40 or more points; an exceptional result
  • The average points score per student was 39.8

Nearly 150,000 students from over 136 countries took the IBDP this year – this highlights the truly global nature of the IB qualification. The IB’s outlook is needed now more than ever for our young people to prosper in the increasingly global community. This is further re-enforced by the increasing number of our students who opt for international universities, especially in Europe, the US and Canada.

Year 11 Results 2016

Sevenoaks School celebrated outstanding examination results for Year 11.

92% of the examinations taken by the 151 candidates were awarded A* or A grades. 59 students - over a third of the year group - gained ten A*s or more each, and 128 students gained 9 or more A* or A grades. All but twenty eight results out of 1549 examinations were awarded grade B or above.

All students took three separate IGCSE sciences, Mathematics and English Language. We were particularly delighted by the success in our own externally moderated Sevenoaks School Certificate in English Literature, now in its sixth year, and by the results in their second awarding year of Art, Drama, Music, Technology (Robotics) and Technology (Visual Communications).

Sevenoaks School is celebrating record-breaking examination results for Year 11.

94% of the examinations taken by the 152 candidates were awarded A* or A grades. 60 students (over a third of the year group) gained ten A*s or more each, and 131 students gained 9 or more A* or A grades. All but 17 results out of 1580 examinations were awarded grade B or above.

All students took three separate IGCSE sciences, Mathematics and English Language. We were particularly delighted by the success in our own externally moderated Sevenoaks School Certificate in English Literature, now in its fifth year, and by the results in their first awarding year of six subjects new to Sevenoaks School Certificates: Art, Drama, History of Art, Music, Technology (Robotics) and Technology (Visual Communications).

  • 76% of all examinations were graded A*
  • 94% of all examinations were graded A or A*
  • 60 students gained 10 or more A* grades
