University Results 2017

In 2017 Sevenoaks students received an outstanding set of offers from world-class UK, US and international universities.

From Sevenoaks, 234 applicants received a total of 891 offers from UK universities, 71 students received offers from all five universities they applied to, and over two-thirds received four offers or more. We had very strong offer rates from Durham (98 offers), UCL (88 offers) and Exeter (84). Forty-nine students received offers from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge; 34 from Cambridge and 15 from Oxford.

Medicine and Veterinary Science
Our prospective medics and veterinary scientists had a record year. Every one of our 19 applicants to medical school received one or more offers. Together they secured a total of 46 offers to study Medicine or Veterinary Medicine, with most receiving three offers each.

International offers
Those who applied to universities overseas were equally successful. Thirty-nine students made applications to the US to 67 different US colleges, making a total of 273 applications. Five students had offers from Stanford, which is a notoriously competitive destination, with less than a five per cent admit rate. Three students were offered places at UPenn, and two students received offers from Yale, again both incredibly competitive universities. Students also received offers from Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Yale-NUS. Multiple offers were made by Boston University, Emory, George Washington, Georgia Tech, Northeastern, Northwestern, NYU, Syracuse, Tufts, UC Davis, UCLA, UC San Diego, UChicago and UMichigan.

Our Art and Design and Architecture applicants were also extremely successful, receiving offers from the top US Art Schools including Parsons, the Pratt Institute, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, RISD, Savannah College of Art and Design, School of the Art Institute Chicago and the Southern California Institute of Art.

In addition, 12 students applied to Canada and received offers from UBC, McGill and the University of Toronto, and all seven students who applied to The University of Hong Kong, HKUST and CUHK received offers.

University Results 2016

There will be 211 university entrants this year from Sevenoaks School to leading universities across the world.

Eighty-seven per cent took up a place at one of the Russell Group universities. Of these, 29 Sennockians are taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge, while 53 are taking up places at one of the London colleges including LSE, UCL, KCL and Imperial. Other popular university destinations were Durham, Exeter, Warwick, Edinburgh and York. This year 26 students took up places at top US or Canadian universities, while another 11 made successful applications to European or other international universities.

The Sciences remain a popular subject choice (40 students), followed by Combined Honours and Liberal Arts (30), and Economics and Business (27). History, Politics and International Relations (24), Geography, Law, Psychology and Languages all continue to attract large numbers of applicants. Fourteen students will take up a place to study Medicine. Thirty-six students opted to take a gap year, with three of those holding deferred offers.

With the competition for places becoming ever fiercer, this is a tremendous record of achievement, and we wish all our new undergraduates every success in their higher education and future careers.

University Results 2015

With the university offers season just at its close, we are delighted to report that we have an excellent 75% offer rate with 786 offers from UK universities.  This means that our students were successful in three quarters of all their applications across the cohort, with roughly a third receiving offers from all five universities they applied to and two thirds receiving four offers or more.

We had particularly pleasing offer rates from Exeter, where 90 Sevenoaks students were made offers, UCL made 84, Durham 71 and Bristol 60.  This year 36 students received offers from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Our prospective medics had a record year of offers, as we saw a 10% increase in the offer rate and well over 80% of our Medicine applicants now hold an offer.  Of particular note, six Sevenoaks students received offers from UCL where over 2500 applications were received this year and only 298 offers were made.  We were delighted by the number of offers received in every discipline.

Those who applied to universities overseas were equally successful. We have 84 offers from top US universities including offers from Harvard (1), Brown (1), Yale (2), Princeton (1), Stanford (2), NYU (8), U Chicago (3), UPenn (4), Tufts, Northwestern, Northeastern, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, Michigan and 16 offers from the University of California’s colleges – UCLA, Berkeley, Davis, San Diego and Santa Barbara.

Ten students have also received offers from McGill and all seven students who applied to The University of Hong Kong, HKUST and CUHK have received offers.
