Does anyone else still feel they're in a snow daze? For many staff and students it was probably a much welcomed rest- albeit a little inconvenient for daily life. The local shops sold out of bread and milk, not once but twice and the meat and veg section was pretty bare too. Still, here in Sennocke we made the most of the wintry wonderland that bestowed us. Christmas decorations were made, sledging took priorty over coursework, cookies and cakes were baking non-stop and the Wii got a good bashing. The foyer was littered (and still is!!) with wellie boots and mittens. The show must go on was the attitude on the Thursday night when the Big Gig was our little bit of reprieve from being on duty - Julia, Tori, Emma-Louise, Nathalie and Becca had me mesmerised with their beautiful singing and piano playing. The Sennocke Centre offered a much welcomed change from the mundane offering Volleyball, Football, Climbing amongst other things like gym, dance and squash. It was really wonderful to see the camararderie amongst all the girls in Sennocke but also throughout the boarding community.
Back in action we have seen Phoebe star in the Elves and the Shoemaker, she was a rather busty character but with some wonderfully humorous moments. She was nicely supported by an energetic cast including Stacy G and Frankie amongst many others in a back and front stage role. Crash into Christmas was a 'crackin' great concert and that, with the snow, has put everyone into the festive spirit.
The girls in the House have been out picking up their Secret Santa presents which we will exchange during Break Up Supper this Tuesday night. The House is twinkling with window lights and the beautifully hand decorated tree. I will be "performing" my break up supper speech to the tune of Winter Wonderland with a very new mix of lyrics to sum up the term. Most recent highlights being Alix Abrahams election to Senior Prefect and three girls to Sixth Form Committee; Elise Damstra, Janice Chui and Stacy Gramotneva- all most deserving of their election. Georgie Weston has just returned very hoarse from her successful trip to Bath for MUN. A number of offers are coming through and several others have been to Oxford and Cambridge this week for interview- we wish them all luck in hopefully hearing great news over the Chrismas Holidays. Highlight of the week, however, goes to Su Lin as she was offered a place at Stanford- huge congratulations to her!
