Congratulations to the U14A rugby team who have progressed to the Kent Cup semi-finals after defeating Gravesend Grammar School 38-0.
This outstanding team performance was epitomised by the side’s captain, Ben Walker, whose rampaging ball carrying skills caused all sorts of problems for the opposition. Ben’s four tries were richly deserved and his efforts alongside the rest of his forward pack meant the backline had a brilliant platform to play off. Special mention should go to James Vernon, Marcel Sand, and Edward Harris who all looked particularly lively from the back three positions. One parent remarked that some of Sevenoaks’ finishing and offloading skills surpassed anything the side has produced before this season, and it is their growing trust and team bond that makes this team so exciting to watch.
Congratulations to the team for performing so admirably in terrible conditions.
The next Cup fixture is away to King’s Canterbury. The U14s should be supremely confident as they have already beaten King’s once before this season. However, the coaches will be stressing caution, as King’s will no doubt be a very different animal next time around. It should be a thrilling encounter. Well done boys.
