The Sennocke Centre


The Sennocke Centre, is a £7 million sports facility opened on 10 March 2005 by Dame Kelly Holmes DBE, Britain's double Olympic gold medal winner at Athens in 2004.

• construction began on 17 November 2003

• thirteen month construction period

• opened to students in the Lent Term 2005

 

Built in 13 months, on time and to budget, The Sennocke Centre contains:

  • multi purpose sports hall accommodating two full size basketball courts, 8 badminton courts, 8 cricket lanes with 1000 lux lighting and floor markings for many other activities
  • 25 metre six lane swimming pool with poolside seating for over 100 spectators
  • dance and aerobics studio
  • 3 Glass backed squash courts
  • a fitness suite containing 26 fitness stations
  • changing rooms and showers for over 400 students
  • flexible social and refreshment areas on the ground and first floor
  • refurbished Bailey Hall indoor tennis courts
  • disability platform to first floor
  • a climbing wall covering approximately 265 square metres of wall space
