A regular meeting has been set up for Year 9 scholars (and others), which is proving very successful. They have decided to call themselves the Schickler Society after a former student, Jonael Schickler (IC 1992-94). He joined our Sixth Form from the Rudolf Steiner School, Forest Row. He was exceptionally able, a keen sportsman, a top class cellist and Prefect. He went on to Sidney Sussex Collge, Cambridge, and gained a First in Philosophy. He then studied for a PhD in Divinity.
The school was shocked to learn that Jonael died in the Potters Bar rail crash in May 2002.
His doctoral thesis was published posthumously, first in German in November 2004, and then in English in December 2005, under the title Metaphysics as Christology: An Odyssey of the Self from Kant and Hegel to Steiner. He almost certainly had an impressive academic career ahead of him, and it seems very fitting that the new society is named after him.
