The Acorn Fund

The school’s strategic development plan covers the next 20 – 25 years. The Acorn Fund exists to help finance the projects within the strategic development plan.

It is hoped that the fund will be supported by donations big and small, legacies, gifts in kind and through sponsorship and naming opportunities. Donors will be encouraged to support the fund with unrestricted donations, enabling the Trustees to decide on the precise allocation of monies to various projects. Donors wishing to support particular projects may donate to that project and we will ring fence the donation until that project comes on stream if work has not already started. To find out how you can help please visit the How can you help section of the website.

The main strands of the development plan are:

  • A performing arts centre for music and drama. The new building was handed over to the school by the contractor on Monday 19 April 2010.  Fund raising for this £13million project continues and several naming opportunities in return for significant donations are available.
  • A science centre bringing together chemistry, physics and biology in a state of the art facility
  • New boarding houses
  • Bursaries
  • A Centre for Innovation and Excellence providing opportunities for teachers to enhance their own professional development
  • A new facility (with the working title of the Hub) containing an examination hall, exam office, meeting room, shop and café and a reception area to receive and orientate visitors
  • Relocation and expansion of Design and Technology on the main campus
  • A landscaped pedestrianised courtyard
  • Information technology
