Sevenoaks School was delighted host its second annual Education Event, on the topic of Teaching Schools. We were joined by more than 60 Heads, Deputies and Directors of Studies from independent preparatory and senior schools.
In her welcome address, Mrs Katy Ricks, Head of Sevenoaks School said, 'The training and professional development of the next generation of teachers is of vital importance to all our schools. I very much welcome the plans for Teaching Schools, and hope that the sector will fully contribute to their development.'
Keynote speaker Mr Andy Buck, Director of Teaching Schools at the National College for School Leadership, outlined the origins and continuing development of this programme, showing how constructive cross-sectoral alliances will be central to its implementation. The Event also considered the delivery implications of these changes, with presentations from Dr Gary Holden, Executive Principal of Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School, and Mrs Deborah Leek-Bailey, Head of Babington House School and an Associate at the National College.
In his closing remarks, Dr Alastair Dunn, Director of the Centre for Innovation at Sevenoaks School said. 'We are delighted to have been able to facilitate such a fruitful exchange of experience and knowledge, and we look forward to hosting similar events in the future.'
