Successful unsupported trek to North Pole by OS

Ed Bussey (84-86) successfully completed an unsupported attempt to reach the North Pole on Sunday 9 May.  Ed undertook a years intensive training programme in preparation for his attempt before being dropped off on the ice to start his long journey.  He had to pull all his kit on a pulk (sledge) and aimed to be skiing for between 12 and 14 hours each day.  His expedition was used to raise money for two inspiring Global Angels projects to help children - one to provide a specially equipped holiday home in the UK for children with life threatening illnesses and an orphan home and school for street children in Sierra Leone.  A video about  Ed's expedition can be found on the Global Angels website - www.globalangels.org.
