SH (Mock) General Election Night

                                                        The new coalition government?

School House held a (Mock) General Election on Wednesday night (Wednesday as there seemed to be something else happening on 6th May).

Four members of L6 became the elder statesmen for the evening and were supported by chancellors – Phil and Pete (Labour), Raph and Edouard (Conservative), Tom R and Patrick (Green Party) and Rob plus Alex C (Liberal Democrats).

An exit poll was taken before the hustings took place in front of a, sometimes, hostile crowd. Each candidate, or their chancellor (a bit like playing a joker), responded to prepared questions on the hot topics – defence spending, Afghanistan, education, health and the economy.

Members of the House completed a ballot paper with Mr Day and Dr Martin counting votes. Mr Willis as the returning officer awarded one box of chocolates to the party with the most improved share of the vote (Green Party – Tom R and Patrick) and another box to the party with the most votes (Liberal Democrats – Rob and Alex C).
