Sevenoaks School U16 Hockey team competed at the East Regional hockey tournament on Thursday, where they demonstrated they will be a force to be reckoned with next Tuesday at the Finals in Redbridge.
Their first match saw them see off Gresham’s School 5-0 with Lucy Lawson netting twice, Lily Elliott, Lizzie Seeley and Megan Annetts all adding to the tally. Next up were Felsted School and dynamic forward Ellie Desmond was in fine form with her electrifying pace to score a hat-trick and help the team win the match 3-0. In the last pool game, Ipswich School were then clinical with their finishing, and a lapse in concentration saw Sevenoaks lose this match 3-0.
However, due to the first two victories Sevenoaks had put themselves in the semi-final against Culford School. In this match Sevenoaks put together a number of excellent attacks which resulted in Megan Annetts netting a brace, Elliott, Lawson, Somerset and Desmond each with 1 to seal a well-earned victory 6-1.
Unfortunately the final between Ipswich and Sevenoaks was not played due to Ipswich needing to get home in the adverse weather conditions. Both teams are through to the Regional Finals which will be played on Tuesday 30 November at Redbridge.
Good luck Sevenoaks School!
