A group of four Sevenoaks pupils competed in The Salters' Chemistry Challenge at University College London yesterday, winning prizes for themselves and the Chemistry department.
The Year 8 students, Hethvi Gada, Anna Merson, Miles Caven and Naqib Rahman, joined 29 other school teams taking part in the Chemistry experiment challenge on Wednesday 25 April. Two practical sessions were followed by an exciting lecture/demonstration and at the end of the day the Sevenoaks School team were declared winners of the Salters' Challenge.
The Salters' Festivals of Chemistry are an initiative of the Salters' Institute, whose aim is to promote the appreciation of Chemistry and related Sciences among the young. The Royal Society of Chemistry works in partnership with the Salters Institute for these events. It is a prestigious annual event with 30 different schools completing different Chemistry challenges throughout the day.
