Becky Bibb, Tara Jameson, Olivia Rendall and Claudia Vanea travelled to Bolton Arena to play in the National AEGON Team Tennis Schools Senior Students Finals 2010/11 at the weekend.

Unfortunately they were drawn to play second seeds Ellesmere Tennis Academy in the first match and despite having some really tight games against their opponents, the Sevenoaks challenge for the title faded against this more experienced team.

In the next match against Boston, Sevenoaks went three games up thanks to resounding doubles wins from and Olivia winning her singles, but an injury to Becky meant that she was unable to complete her singles, despite being 4-0 up at one stage and the tie was decided on a Championship tie-break which we lost.

On the final day the team rallied to beat Colston’s School, Bristol 5-1, with Becky not having to play her singles. Old rivals Queenswood and Ellesmere completed in the final and Sevenoaks left Bolton proud to have competed in this prestigious tournament but disappointed not to have really been able to challenge for the title.

The 2011 Summer Aberdare Cup matches start this week with Sevenoaks II playing Langley Park in the first round. The 1st team has been given a walk-over and have to wait until next term to begin their quest for the title.
