School House is the oldest boarding house in the school. In 1996 the House moved to its current location on a beautiful Victorian estate. School House is currently home to 60 students and staff. The boys are aged 13-18 with roughly 10 in a year group. There is a tremendous spirit of caring and cooperation within the House.

Pastoral Care
The pastoral care is provided by a very experienced and dedicated team. There are five academic tutors who have a wide range of teaching and co-curricular specialisms. All of the School House staff team aim to provide a secure, peaceful and happy home for the boys to flourish in both socially and academically.

Mr Gareth Willis, the Housemaster, has been involved in boarding for many years, previously working as tutor and assistant housemaster in Lambardes and Johnsons. Gareth, Louise and their 2 daughters live in the main building. Gareth teaches Geography and coaches football, cricket and cross country. He is also involved in Outdoor activities and has led expeditions to the Andes and the Himalayas. The Assistant Housemaster, Mr Andrew Day, an Economist and a keen traveller, tutors the Middle School boys. Andrew lives on site with his wife who teaches Spanish at the school. Mr Sean Reid (History and Rugby) is the residential tutor with responsibility for looking after the Year 9 boys. Mr Alex Patton (Geography) and Mr Guy Howden (Mathematics) are non-resident tutors. The House Matron is critical to the care of the boys and the smooth running of the house. This role is shared between Mrs Amanda Hebbert and the Housemaster’s wife. The House is supported by a team of highly committed domestic staff. Pastoral care is also enhanced by a team of Sixth Form House officials including the House Captain, two Vice Captains and a House Secretary. They meet regularly along with year group representatives to form the House Council.

Accommodation
The 60 boys benefit from extensive, scenic grounds which incorporate a tennis court, football pitch, volleyball lawn, basketball area and croquet lawn. Within the House there are large communal rooms on the ground floor. These include a common room with a grand piano, chess and daily newspapers; a well-stocked library with computers linked to the school network to complement the wireless network throughout the House; and a lounge with satellite television and a Wii. Additionally there is a full size snooker table and table-tennis tables. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped and is often the hub of the House. In the cellar area there is a music practice room where boys can rehearse for forthcoming House concerts, and a small gym. The bedrooms are found on the upper floors of the main building and in a small annexe (the original coach house). Most of the older boys have single rooms some with en suite facilities. The youngest share with two or three other boys. Homework is done at the boys' desks in their bedrooms, and lights out is preceded by quiet reading time. Each year group has a book club that meets regularly to discuss a wide range of literature.

House Events
House spirit and unity is encouraged through engagement in a wide range of common activities. These include student organised events such as a themed House Ball with girls’ house Sennocke, a Valentines Dinner for the Sixth Form and a Middle School music concert for the boarding community. The attractive outdoor space is heavily and enthusiastically used for entertaining and sporting events especially in the summer months. Destinations for recent House trips have included 20/20 cricket, mountain biking, raft building, theatre and comedy nights. The House is very involved in charity work with strong links to the Sevenoaks Almshouses.
