Scholars' Recital, St Luke's Church, Sevenoaks

On Wednesday 2 November, Mr Wey and Mr Liu took three music scholars to the local church of St Luke's for a lunchtime recital. They performed in front of a mixed audience: from people living in the nursing home next door to working adults seeking a relaxing lunch break.

The first performer, Elspeth Newey, impressed the audience with a mature and virtuosic violin performance of the first movement of Vivaldi's Winter Concerto from the Four Seasons. Marcus Mok then played a lyrical and emotional song without words, Rachmaninov's 'Vocalise'. Samir Yep ended the recital with a passionate performance of Romance from Wieniawski's 2nd Concerto for violin, followed by the technically fiendish Praeludium and Allegro, mesmerising the audience.

The performance received a lot of praise and everyone was delighted to see Sevenoaks students giving back to their community.
