Sailing Success at BSDRA Autumn Championships

On Saturday 9 October Sevenoaks sent two teams to compete in the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association (BSDRA) Autumn championships, held by Kings School Canterbury. This is the biggest school event of the autumn and was attended by eight of the top schools from around the country.

Despite some difficulties with the minibus on the way, the two Sevenoaks teams were quickly hitting their stride in the racing, sailing boats that are unfamiliar to them. The format was a round robin with all 10 teams racing reach other.

Sevenoaks A had some narrow escapes but sailed very well to go undefeated and win the competition. Sevenoaks B lost just two races and finished up 2nd overall – a really great effort from both Sevenoaks teams – having two teams consistently coming out on top of school competitions is a real achievement.

Next up is the RYA Youth and Junior championships in Oxford on 16/17 October where the school will compete against the countries top sailors in U19 and U16 categories.
