The annunal PROMO Summer trip to Mumbai was superb this year, with the students being truly outstanding. Visiting several charities around the city including a school for the blind, a children's hospital and a care home for the old, infirm and abandoned children with HIV was clearly challenging for the 11 students, but their continued good humour and determination to improve the lot of these people was inspirational.
The students also taught children over four days at different schools, on the topic of countries that were involved in India's development. The lessons were rather impressive, despite the conditions. Sadly, the Sevenoaks pupils did lose their football match, despite captain of the girls team, Alix Abrahams, diving into rather deep puddles to save several shots. The students returned eager to do even more for those charities, and we donated over £3500.
