Dr Nick Treanor from the Faculty of Philosophy at Cambridge University was our Visiting Fellow on 19 and 20 January.
While at the school, he gave a lively and insightful lecture on ‘Emotions and the Good Life’ as well as an interesting talk on applying for a place and studying Philosophy at University. He also explored the IB programme and experienced first-hand a lesson in Theory of Knowledge. He had a great impact in the Philosophy department, providing an insight into the subject as an activity for the Upper Sixth, and conducting two seminar-style lessons on the taxonomy of the mental world with the Lower Sixth. His depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject was inspirational and his warmth and geniality a delight.
