OS Tristram Stuart has been awarded the 2011 Sophie Prize, an international environmental award, for his fight against food waste.
Tristram, who left Sevenoaks School in 1995, is a writer and activist who was selected for his ‘innovative, energetic, humorous and thoughtful contributions to raising consciousness about one of today’s the most palpable environmental and moral scandals’.

He said, ‘Receiving the Sophie Prize sends a strong signal how food waste is a global tragedy, but also an opportunity in order to increase food supply and decrease impact on the environment… it will give our work a boost and help to broadcast the message internationally.’
